3. 2025 Scottish Agritourism Growth Tracker results
In 2025, we asked Scotland’s farms, crofts, and estates to take part in an annual survey. This helped us understand how we could grow the agritourism sector and to establish the size and scale of the industry.
The survey findings showed that agritourism in Scotland has already surpassed two of its major 2030 goals for value and visitor numbers. It found that:
- the sector is now worth £292.9 million, reaching 117% of the 2030 value target five years early
- agritourism businesses welcomed 2.5 million visitors, achieving 126% of the 2030 visitor target
- there are currently 888 agritourism businesses across Scotland, supporting around 8,000 full-time equivalent jobs
- the most common activity is self-catering accommodation (67%), followed by farm tours and experiences (40%), and on-farm cafés or food offerings (just over 25%)
The tracker was undertaken in August and September 2025. It based its findings on the responses of over 200 farms and crofts.
