Your benefits

We know that to have a motivated and energised workforce, the health and wellbeing of our employees, alongside an open and transparent culture, is important. The following are the benefits of working for us.

Flexible working

Wherever possible, we aim to allow our people to do their work where and when it suits them best. To help you maintain a healthy work-life balance, we offer hybrid working.  Depending on the job, we also offer part-time working, and flexible or compressed hours.

Annual leave

Full-time employees can take 31.5 holiday days a year, rising to 36.5 days after five years’ continuous service. They also get five fixed public holidays; two days at New Year, one day for St Andrews Day and two days at Christmas. You can also buy or sell up to 35 hours (5 days) a year. Annual leave for part-time workers is given on a pro-rata basis.

A range of great value pensions

All our employees are entitled to join our market-leading pension schemes. These are the British Tourist Board Pension Scheme, the Lothian Pension Fund (part of LGPS), or our enhanced National Employee Savings Trust scheme.

Employee healthcare

Staff, who have worked with us for more than one year, are able to claim back the cost of certain healthcare expenses not covered by the NHS up to certain limits. These include optical, dental, physiotherapy, and chiropody.

Retail discounts

Staff can save money at well-known retailers and supermarkets through our staff benefits portal.

Life assurance

All staff up to the age of 75 are provided with life assurance of at least three times their annual salary, either directly or through their pension scheme membership.

CycleWork and Green Car schemes

We offer salary sacrifice schemes which allow staff to lease cars and bikes with valuable tax and National Insurance savings.

We’re committed to being a family friendly employer. We offer our staff generous family leave such as enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption leave. Parental leave and shared parental leave are available too.

Our in-house learning platform provides a wide range of learning like bite sized learning modules or podcasts and courses ranging from compliance to continuing professional development, equality, diversity and inclusion, continuing self-development, project management, and sustainability.

We also have internal and external coaches and mentors available to support you on your career journey and help you reach your potential.
