Introduction from Regional Director Lynsey Eckford

Welcome to the April to June 2023 quarterly edition of our regional industry update for Loch Lomond, The Trossachs & Forth Valley (LLTFV) with an overview of some of the ways we’ve been promoting and supporting tourism in the area over the last few months.

Stirling Old Town Jail, Stirling Distillery, The Haggis Experience and Magna World were among 11 tourism businesses that represented Forth Valley at Scotland’s biggest business-to-business event for the travel trade, VisitScotland Connect, held at P&J Live in Aberdeen on 19 and 20 April.

While in Scotland, the international tour operators and travel agents also spent time travelling to sample in-person the scenery, hospitality, produce and attractions, through a series of "familiarisation" trips, which included a visit to Forth Valley.

My colleague Anne Massey and I were pleased to have the opportunity to attend the Discover Clackmannanshire AGM and update them on the latest visitor insights, our marketing activity and business support.

With the season almost in full swing, we are hearing encouraging signs from tourism and events businesses about the season ahead. We know that challenges certainly remain for you all, however as the schools break up for the summer holidays, the appetite for holidaying in Scotland is strong, from both the domestic and international markets.

One of the big tickets for this summer is the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships which are just around the corner. And they are coming to Forth Valley! Stirling will host the individual Road Time Trials, while the Men’s Elite Road Race will pass through Clackmannanshire and Falkirk when Forth Valley will be on the international cycling map.

Update from the team at Stirling iCentre

The team at Stirling iCentre have been supporting the Bridgerton Ball which is being held in Stirling in July. They have put together an information pack which the 150/200 guests will come into the iCentre to collect.

Some of the iCentre team from Aberfoyle got together in the Stirling iCentre to allow them to reacquaint themselves with booking tickets. Stirling is a busy site for ticketing so the team were able to share their knowledge.

Some of the team have been on familiarisation trips around the area, with a fairly new team it’s been great to get out and about together.

The iCentre have also seen an increase in footfall which is encouraging as the team continue to enjoy welcoming visitors to the area.

Partnership marketing - the latest news

We’re talking about collaboration and it’s all about shared goals. By ensuring we have the right partners we can match the right product or experience to our activity.

Recently the Kelpies were included in a partnership we worked on with Caledonian Sleeper and Glasgow Life. This was based on a campaign promoting the ease of travel from London to Glasgow (and beyond). It also highlighted summer breaks available through a mix of paid media and influencer activity.

We've been shaping up some exciting new partnership marketing campaigns. And, building on the success of some of our previous activity.
