Road Safety Scotland new campaign

The Scottish Government and Road Safety Scotland (part of Transport Scotland) has launched its Drive on the Left campaign, reminding visitors to drive on the left when visiting Scotland this summer.

The campaign sets out to help drivers stay safe as they embark on their journey to Scotland, by sharing useful information about Scotland's roads, which often differ from other countries, including how to navigate singe-track roads and passing places.

Drivers are urged to stay alert and be well rested to avoid switching to autopilot, which can easily happen when the roads are quiet, or a driver is tired. This can cause someone to enter a roundabout the wrong way or turn onto the wrong side of the road at a junction.

Visitors are also reminded that weather conditions can change quickly in Scotland, making it even more challenging to navigate long and twisty roads.

How can you get involved?

There are lots of ways you can get involved with the campaign. A campaign toolkit is available for you to spread this important message across your communication channels. It includes example social media posts plus images and videos available for use.

If you have guests or visitors who are planning a road trip to Scotland, this is useful content to share with them, to help ensure they can safely and responsibly enjoy all that Scotland’s roads and scenery offer.
