As we continue to deliver our core purpose to drive the visitor economy and grow its value to Scotland, we wanted to share an update on our senior leadership team.

Following Vicki Miller’s appointment as our new incoming Chief Executive Officer, we’re now recruiting a Director of Marketing & Digital. This role will take forward the successful development and delivery of the marketing and digital strategy for the organisation, including its implementation in all markets.

To oversee our strategic insight and planning, we’re recruiting a Director of Strategy and Competitive Intelligence. This new role will focus on the development of a strategic insight and competitive intelligence programme to support Scotland’s tourism and events industry with a focus on sustainable economic growth.

Rob Dickson, our current Director of Industry and Destination Development, will move to a new role as Director of Industry and Events. By bringing together industry and events under Rob’s leadership, we’ll strengthen our offering and drive forward further integration across tourism and events.

This will also ensure we’re best placed to deliver the ambitions of Scotland’s National Events Strategy 2024 - 2035 working in collaboration with Scotland’s Events Industry Advisory Group, and support delivery of the national tourism strategy, Scotland Outlook 2030.

Rob will be supported by Heads of Department Rebecca Edser and Marie Christie to reinforce Scotland's reputation as a world leading events destination. The creation of an Industry and Events Directorate will take place in September following our Director of Events, Paul Bush's departure at the end of August 2024.

Our destination development work across all areas of the country will continue to be led by Rob. And our Corporate Services Directorate will continue to be led by Ken Neilson.

Our Business Events Department, led by Neil Brownlee, will join the Marketing and Digital Directorate. This will ensure our market-facing work, which is critical to Scotland’s global reputation, and growing our share of inbound leisure and business tourism, continues to stimulate demand.

Partnership working will continue to be at the heart of all that we do. Working together with the public and private sectors, and the industry itself, we can continue to make Scotland a destination of choice for visitors from near and far.
