Our Industry & Events Directorate recently completed a national tour of nine in-person Regional Events Industry Engagement Workshops across Scotland, where they updated the events sector on the refreshed National Events Strategy, Scotland The Perfect Stage (2024 - 2035).
The workshops provided an opportunity for audiences to hear the latest industry developments, share good practice and feedback on their experiences.
They also provided an opportunity to inform industry colleagues about the latest developments at VisitScotland, including the Business Support Hub that will offer advice to help businesses operate, improve, and grow.
Workshops took place in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness, Kirkwall, Galashiels, Kirkcaldy, and Dumfries, reaching more than 250 representatives from across the sector.
A number of local event organisers, including Orkney Folk Festival, Belladrum Music Festival, and Glasgow 850, also provided case studies on the day.

Common themes across all workshops focused on the priorities highlighted in the national strategy. These were "economy", "community", "the environment", "workforce", and "reputation and profile".
Also discussed was the importance of accurate and consistent measurement and the reporting of impacts.
View the National Events StrategyThese workshops provided an important in-person business support opportunity and a critical next step, following launch of the updated National Events Strategy in May 2024.
They have allowed us to update industry on the agreed strategic priorities for the sector, roles, and responsibilities across Team Scotland and on the priorities and approach being taken by VisitScotland.
They also provide a vital feedback opportunity for industry to help inform and shape our future support.
Forthcoming events will include webinars on equality, diversity and inclusivity, net zero, and working with the emergency services, as well as coordinating a programme of Event Industry Observer Tours.
