Recruitment is open!

The Tourism and Hospitality Industry Leadership Group (ILG) is looking for people working in the industry to help influence and grow the future of tourism in Scotland. The deadline for applications is Sunday 2 March.

What does the ILG do?

The group provides a collaborative strategic forum. This enables leaders from across the industry to engage with each other, government and its agencies.

It works to maximise the economic, social and cultural contribution of tourism and hospitality.

The group is set up to support the ambitions of the Scottish Government’s National Strategy for Economic Transformation (NSET).

In its activities, the group considers the four key priorities of Scotland Outlook 2030:

  • passionate people

  • thriving places

  • diverse businesses

  • memorable experiences

The ILG has identified five cross-cutting missions it believes it can successfully influence to achieve the ambitions of Outlook 2030.

Within those missions there are key game-changing actions required to achieve them. These actions are over and above the core activity already being carried out by industry and public agencies.

The ILG will use its influence to build support, but the actions will only be achieved through collaboration between industry, public, private and third sectors.

The missions are:

  • proud and valued people working for Scotland

  • data and technology empowerment

  • community-led tourism

  • pathway towards net zero

  • sustainable transport

What are we looking for in a candidate?

Expressions of interest to join the ILG are being welcomed from any individual who is committed and passionate about the future of tourism and hospitality in Scotland and can demonstrate that they have the right skills, knowledge, and experience to act as ‘champion’ of the national tourism strategy, Scotland Outlook 2030: Responsible Tourism for a Sustainable Future. Members of the group will work together to ensure the direct contribution of Scotland Outlook 2030 to the ambitions of the Scottish Government’s National Strategy for Economic Transformation.

There will be an open process for interested parties to submit an expression of interest in joining the Tourism and Hospitality ILG. Members will join as individuals, bringing their skills experience and sector knowledge to the Group.

Consideration will be given by a panel consisting of VisitScotland, Scottish Tourism Alliance and the Scottish Government.

Members will be invited to join the ILG on a voluntary basis and the group is expected to convene at least four times a year, with the first meeting taking place 14 May.

Diversity and inclusion is at the core of the ILG and expressions of interest from underrepresented groups including women, disabled people, those from black and ethnic minority communities, LGBTI+ people, religious beliefs, and under 50s are welcomed.
