In July, we announced that we would begin recruitment for a new Director of Marketing and Digital, following Vicki Miller's successful appointment as our incoming Chief Executive Officer.

We are pleased to confirm that Jill Walker, Head of Marketing at the Scottish Government, will be Vicki's successor and will join our team on 21 October 2024.

With a career spanning both the public and private sectors, Jill brings a wealth of experience in marketing and digital strategy. She was most recently Head of Marketing at the Scottish Government, where she has been responsible for the direction and delivery of Scotland's most high profile and cutting-edge marketing and digital strategies to support Scottish Government policy.

Prior to her work with the Scottish Government, Jill launched Family Advertising Ltd and worked for advertising agencies including Yellow M, Fauld and The Bridge. 

Scotland is an incredible country and I feel privileged and immensely proud to have been selected to take forward this responsibility. I'm looking forward to working closely with Vicki and the entire team to market Scotland's incredible tourism and events offering to audiences near and far.

About the role

The Director of Marketing and Digital forms an integral part of our new senior leadership team, taking forward the successful development and delivery of the marketing and digital strategy for the organisation, including its implementation in all markets.

This will support our core purpose to drive the visitor economy and grow its value to Scotland.

Jill's impressive career and well-earned reputation made her a unanimous choice for our panel.

Her extensive experience in marketing and leadership, combined with her deep understanding of Scotland's public sector, will be instrumental as we continue to enhance Scotland's global reputation as a must-visit, must-return, year-round destination. This will support us to deliver our core purpose to drive the visitor economy, growing its value to Scotland.

Jill will lead our marketing directorate working closely with teams right across the organisation as well as stakeholders the length and breadth of the country.

She will also become an integral part of my new leadership team, helping to realise our vision in creating better places for people to live, work and visit.
