Article published 14/08/2024

We’ve launched a new business events website to promote Scotland as a premier destination for business events, including meetings, incentive travel programmes, conferences, and exhibitions.

It will inspire and assist international business events decision makers and organisers in planning their business events in Scotland, support our valuable business events industry and ensure regional spread.

The website has been re-designed to enhance user experience. Our analysis shows that users come to our website for information and inspiration on Scotland and to inform their decision to bring their business to Scotland. We’ve therefore developed our content and approach with this in mind.

As with all our activity, this work is driven by our understanding of the ways people access information. We’re harnessing that insight to create a solution that will make it easier for users to access the information we know they’re looking for. Detailed SEO analysis has informed our approach and will continue to inform the content we create on the web site to ensure our it has maximum reach.

Our foresight and expertise in this area ensures we’re considering an approach that we know will ultimately benefit businesses and partners in the future, helping promote Scotland as a premier destination for business events.

What's changing?

  • New look and feel

The website has been rebranded and styled to bring it in line with the brand and colour changes seen on visitscotland.com and VisitScotland.org.

  • More quality content

Analytics show themed content gets more engagement than listing related content, therefore increasing quality content on business events in Scotland will help connect buyers with the industry as effectively as possible.

  • Upgraded technology underpinning our website

We’ve replaced our Content Management System. This is the system behind the scenes that makes our website work. This allows us to use modern marketing techniques to present information to our users. It’ll also be quicker and easier to make changes and enhancements.

  • Business listings retired

We’re retiring business listings and will incorporate business information into our content to create a better user experience and provide more upfront information.

We’ll continue to feature businesses throughout our website as we develop new articles and features but also through our different channels including our enewsletter updates. For those not featured, our website will provide inspiration and information so that buyers choose to do business in Scotland.

Betaphase

We’ve reviewed our existing website, including user behaviour and insights, and developed a new beta website. That means that we've launched the new website, alongside the existing website.

What people will notice is that there's still work to be done and it's not the finished product.

As part of the project, we've reviewed and refreshed all our content. However, anyone visiting the new website will notice that some pages and sections have yet to be completed.

We'll be adding new content and features over the coming months. The new website performance will be monitored, and changes made on the back of feedback from stakeholders and data analytics.

The existing website is fully available during this time until we're confident that the new website is good to go. At that stage - and not before - we'll retire the old businessevents.visitscotland.com.
