Milestone events in Forth Valley

We know that Scotland is an incredible destination for events. This year Forth Valley have some milestone events celebrating culture, heritage, history and community. 

With the Kelpies at Helix Park, Falkirk turning 10 this year, Stirling celebrating 900 years since it was founded and The John Muir Way celebrating it’s 10 year anniversary on 21 April there's much to celebrate.

Kelpies 10

One of Scotland’s top visitor attractions, The Helix, Home of The Kelpies, together with Falkirk Council and Scottish Canals, has announced plans for a special one-of-a-kind event to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the iconic sculptures, Kelpies 10. You can visit the Helix website for more information on the Kelpies and how they were created.

Taking place on Saturday 27 April 2024, the event is a full day some of which are free.

Celebrations include street theatre, community stalls, and a local producers market. Music will be a big feature with local community group 'Sing Forth Choir' and a huge family ceilidh with live band Whisky Kiss.

In the evening, which is ticketed there is live music from the Red Hot Chilli Pipers and Callum Beattie alongside a fire show from Pyroceltica.

The Kelpies

Stirling 900

Stirling was founded in 1124 making 2024 it's 900th year. Stirling is commemorating the community, the history and taking time to look forward to the future of Stirling.

Visitors are encouraged to join in with Stirling for a year-long celebration of everything that makes Scotland truly unique, from the story of Bonnie Prince Charlie to the significance of tartan and the mysteries of Bloody Scotland. Stirling council and Scene Stirling have teamed up to create a series of interactive art installations in the city centre too. They are asking for input into a timeline they're creating alongside this project. You can find out more and input your thoughts at the scenescotland website.

The John Muir Way turns 10

The John Muir Way will be celebrating it’s 10 year anniversary on 21 April.

The John Muir Way - which first opened on 21 April 2014 - stretches across Scotland's heartland it links Helensburgh in the west with John Muir’s birth place Dunbar in the east and is fully way-marked for walking and cycling.

They've published one- and two- day routes which including the Kelpies at Helix Park, and the John Muir Birthplace museum which is free to visit.

A few events to share

Falkirk’s first Enchanted Market takes place on Falkirk High Street between 4-5 May. The event promises 'unique treasures from magical merchants and enchanting music creating a mystical atmosphere.

Clackmannanshire Whisky Festival 2024 - This event was sold out last year and returns to Alloa Town Hall, Clackmannanshire on 6 April 2024. It  promises to offer you access to over 40 exhibitors and the chance to explore the region's whisky heritage.

Vibration Festival is to be set in the grounds of Callendar Park, Falkirk, it is running the weekend of the 1- 2 September.

Stirling SpiritFEST - This is a celebration of all things gin celebrating Scottish craft distillers. 

The 124-year-old Steamship Sir Walter Scott, is back for her first complete season in five years on Loch Katrine.

Stirling Summer Sessions take place from 27 June to 2 July at the foot of Stirling Castle.

Home - Bloody Scotland is Scotland’s International Crime Writing Festival, it takes place between 13-15 September.

Callander Jazz & Blues Festival is the largest rural Jazz & Blues festival in Scotland.

Stirling Highland Games set within Stirling Sports Village take place this year on Saturday 17th August.
